Investments
WPB Group seeks investment opportunities on the real estate market in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, opportunities with the setup and acquisition of small, service-oriented companies and with receivables management. In the property sector we mostly raise the value of land and are active in development. The high-profile projects include the comprehensive reconstruction of the Edison transforming station in Prague.
Palác Edison
Edison Palace is one of the most demanding projects which WPB Group has ever done. The group embarked on the reconstruction of the dilapidated former Edison transforming station in 2005. Two years later, WPB Group received the certificate of occupancy for the new premises. The reconstruction outcome was highly appraised among the general and professional public. The investor's sensitive approach was one of the most important factors, as it ensured that this unique technical sight retained its original functionalist shape.
Edison Palace, the current headquarters of WPB Group management and WPB Capital savings association, was preserved without any changes made to it, with the only exception being original equipment. The reconstruction very strictly respected the original architectural expression of the building, i.e. a technical structure with a variety of industrial features. The building reconstruction is the work of the reputable Prague-based architect – professor Ing. arch. Ladislav Lábus.
Arco Gallery
The development activities of WPB Group have also been growing in Pilsen where is intends to build a mixed-use building. The project with the name Arco Gallery is situated in a strategic spot in Pilsen downtown. The new complex shall be built in place of an existing housing block between Americká, Prokopova, Resslova and Purkyňova streets. The seven aboveground and three underground levels which can accommodate up to 8,750 people, are designed for retail, a multiplex cinema, sports and leisure centres and offices. The construction of apartments is foreseen in one building section. The useful area of this mixed-use centre should be 90,000 sqm.
River Terrace
The development of the WPB Group also covers hotel development where WPB Group was already working on several interesting projects. River Terrace is one of them.
The River Terrace Hotel shall be built on the bank of the Vltava River in the Prague district of Smíchov. Nowadays, this district is one of the most vibrant downtown areas with lots of shops, services, residential homes and leisure time activities. Smíchov has become the location for international corporations to set up their offices. Various shopping and entertainment centres, hotels and residential buildings can be found here. What is not missing are sufficiently-sized parks, mostly in the proximity of the Vltava River where Smíchov residents and visitors can relax and have a rest.
The River Terrace Hotel will meet the requirements to be classified as a four to five-star hotel. The hotel will mostly be used for congress tourism and other social events. The main congress hall is designed for 500 people, and can be further extended on a variable basis and accommodate up to 850 participants. The conference premises in the hotel are designed to provide individual arrangement layouts for various social events and happenings. The hotel will offer 326 rooms and a 155-sqm. lobby in the attractive location on the Vltava riverbank with a splendid river view.
Hotel Bubbles
Another hotel-type developer project on which WPB Group was participating was the Bubbles hotel where we successfully reconverted an unsightly gap in Smíchov into an original three-star hotel and subsequently sold it to its final investor.
